Our Mission
Streets for kids, not cars
Our streets changed. And with them, children’s lives. Toxic and dangerous, traffic took away their freedom. Not due to a decision anyone made, but because it was hard to see a different path. It felt inevitable.
But things are changing and the landscape is shifting.
We are parents working together, finding our voice, demanding better for our children.
We’re seeing that another future is possible, and that children can become independent, not car dependent.
Changing childhood
Over the last few decades, cars took over our neighborhoods - and stole a vital piece of growing up. Playing on our streets, knocking for friends, cycling to the local park - for millions of kids, those simple freedoms are gone. Nowhere is this clearer than the daily trip to school.
-
For parents: Exhausting, traffic-clogged, high-stress mornings.
-
For children: Less independence, less fresh air, and less healthy movement.
We’re here to change that.

The shift that changed everything
Remember the school run? Back in the 1970s, primary school kids did it on their own. It was a walk, a cycle, or a chat with friends. It was the best part of the day.
Then, the car took over.
By the 1990s, the independence children once took for granted had all but vanished. In its place: a daily, high-stress chore for time-poor parents. For some, it’s a gridlocked drive against peak-time traffic. For others, a dangerous, polluted walk to the school gate.
We haven't just lost the ability for children to walk themselves to school - we’ve lost the fresh air, the community connection, and the rhythm of our own neighborhoods.
A brighter way forward
The good news? We already know the solutions that can turn the tide. Across the country, communities are reclaiming their streets, proving that change isn’t just possible - it’s happening.
From implementing child-friendly school streets and 20mph zones that reduce collisions, to embracing the convenience of cargo bikes for family travel. We’re creating safer, breathable routes where children can thrive again.
Together, we can swap school run stress for freedom and ensure it becomes the best part of the day again.

The power of community
Real change starts at the school gate. As a parent-led charity, we turn individual frustration into collective action.
We provide the expert guidance, campaign toolkits, and peer support you need to bring communities together to reshape your school run - from safer crossings to cargo bikes.
We’re parents who transformed our own school journeys; now, we’re here to help you transform yours.
Because when parents unite, change can happen.
