Hot on the (w)heels of our hugely successful Cargos & Cakes event, held in Dulwich in March, we're hosting another one, this time in Streatham.
Come and join us in Valley Road Playing Fields, after school on Friday 18th October, for a cake and a chat about cargo bikes. Meet other parents who already have them, talk to them about their bikes and check out their rides. They might even let you have a go!
And if you are a cargo-riding parent, and want to spread the word about cargo bikes, come along! The event is a collaboration with Fettle for faff-free bike repair, and their mechanic will be there to give your cargo the once over.
Cargo bikes come in many shapes and sizes, most are e-assist (so hills are easy!) and they are a great way of transporting young children who can’t cycle themselves. Many parents are intrigued by them; they look like a fun and healthy way of getting around, but buying one is a bit of a leap.
Which is where our event comes in. It’s the perfect opportunity to talk to other parents who already have a cargo bike about their experience of them;
Which style is best for your family; long tail or front loader?
How does the age (and relationship!) of your children affect which type of bike you choose?
What do you do in the rain?
How do your kids feel about it?
Where can you park it?
What insurance should you get?
With the high levels of congestion on the roads around us, cruising along segregated cycle lanes and through School Streets with your small ones safely tucked away becomes more and more attractive.
Come along and find out how other parents have made the transition from car to cargo bike. And eat cake! See you there!
